I am Kylianne Farrell, wife, mother of two little lady legends and founder of Move For Mental Health. When I am not presenting, delivering courses, leading a hike or surf trip or on site working support leaders and teams, you will find me either swinging around some weird fitness equipment, hiking, paddling the ocean or learning to wing foil.
At nineteen I found myself in front of a psychiatrist, feeling broken and being diagnosed with severe depression/anxiety. He prescribed me three things that day. One of which sparked my curiosity was exercise. This is what I decided to run which (pun intended).
Movement saved me for some time, until I suffered birth injuries. My injuries left me unable to move the way that I had been, and I once again found myself spiralling into a deep dark depression/anxious hole.
I have been on another eight-year journey from that point onwards, to uncover what are the pieces of the protective factor puzzle, that boost mental well-being and reduce symptoms of an exisiting mental health disorder.
In 2020 an experience changed the direction of Move For Mental Health. That initially started in 2017 as an initiative that solely fundraised for The Gidget Foundation.
After this experience found myself back in the workplace with the mission of “saving lives from suicide, and saving quality of life” where the focus wasn’t not just on identifying declining mental health but also on empowering people with the education, tools, and skills to positively protect and boost their mental wellbeing.
My individual twisting and turning mental health journey, meant I have invested in the study and application of many different disciplines. As each personal chapter led me to a lot of questions that were unanswered.
The power of my journey is I can do things differently when it comes to helping impact those who I have the privilege of working with.
I am qualified in the areas of counseling, positive psychology, mental health first aid, fitness, ecotherapy, and training & assessment.
Move For Mental Health is for-profit with a purpose, fundraising, and giving back is at the heart of my business. To date, we as a community have fundraised over $160,000 for The Gidget Foundation with no intention of slowing up on that front.
Thank you for stopping by, I hope I have the privilege of being involved in your journey even if in some small way.
